Hey, if you're chasing that bucket-list northern lights moment, this 5-day Lapland trip is pretty much perfect. For $1,500 you get the whole winter fairy-tale package, husky sledding, sleeping on ice, the works. We keep groups tiny so it never feels crowded.
Day 1 – You land in Kiruna, we pick you up and go straight to the famous ice hotel. Your room is literally made of ice, thick reindeer skins on the bed, it sounds crazy but you sleep like a baby because they give you arctic-grade sleeping bags. Welcome dinner is reindeer meat with lingonberries and hot soup, perfect after traveling.
Day 2 – Morning is chill, maybe walk around the hotel sculptures. Evening is first aurora chase, we hop on snowmobiles and drive out to a lake where there’s zero light pollution. Guide sets up a fire, serves hot drinks, and we wait. When the sky explodes in green and purple, people usually go totally quiet, its that good.
Day 3 – Husky day! You get your own team of dogs, quick lesson on how to steer, then off through silent forests for 3-4 hours. The dogs are super excited, tails wagging like mad. After we warm up in a wooden cabin with lunch and sauna. Second aurora hunt at night, sometimes even better than the first.
Day 4 – We visit a local Sami family, feed their reindeer, hear stories about life above the Arctic Circle. You can try throwing a lasso if you want a laugh. Afternoon snowshoe hike or just relax. Last night you can choose the ice room again or switch to a warm cabin, many people do the warm one after three ice nights.
Day 5 – Easy morning, quick visit to the little mining town museum if you feel like it, then airport transfer for flights after 12 pm.
Honestly, people come back saying it felt like another planet. Small group, real experiences, no big tourist crowds. If you want winter magic without hassle, this is it. Just bring warm layers and a sense of adventure!
