This is the real Swedish Midsummer, not the touristy version, actual flower crowns, herring overload, and dancing like nobody watches. $1,100 and you live the dream for five days in Dalarna, the heart of Swedish folk culture.

Day 1 – Thursday. We pick you up in Stockholm around noon, three-hour scenic drive north, windows down, green fields everywhere. Stop for coffee and first taste of fresh strawberries (season just starts). Arrive at our red farmhouse cluster near Leksand, drop bags in your little room with floral wallpaper, then straight into flower-picking in the meadow. Girls and guys both make crowns, guide shows how to weave seven different flowers (old tradition). Evening is grilled salmon, new potatoes with dill, first snaps songs around the bonfire while the sun barely dips.

Day 2 – Midsummer Eve, the big day! Morning we all raise the maypole together, leafy birch branches, huge cross with wreaths, takes an hour and lots of laughing. Then the real party starts: long tables outside, herring in five flavors, meatballs, potato salad, cheese, strawberries and cream till you can’t move. Everyone wears flower crowns, folk musicians play fiddle, we dance around the pole to silly frog songs, even if you have two left feet you end up jumping like a kid. Afternoon games: sack races, tug-of-war, more snaps, more singing. Sunset is around 11 pm and it never gets dark, pure magic.

Day 3 – Midsummer Day, recovery mode. Sleep in, massive breakfast with leftover herring (tastes better day two). Then gentle boat cruise on Lake Siljan, captain tells stories about old Vikings and witches. Stop on a tiny island for fika with cinnamon buns bigger than your head. Afternoon free: swim in the lake, sauna, nap in the grass, or walk to the village shop for ice cream. Evening we cook together, simple BBQ, then folk music night, local band, everyone joins the dancing again, way more relaxed than yesterday.

Day 4 – Culture & cute villages. Short drive to Nusnäs to see how they carve the famous Dala horses (you can paint your own, takes 30 min, fun souvenir). Then Tällberg, postcard village on the hill, red houses, insane lake views. Lunch at a tiny café overlooking the water. Afternoon visit Anders Zorn museum in Mora (quick but gorgeous paintings). Last evening back at the farmhouse, final dinner, lots of hugs and maybe a few tears because nobody wants to leave.

Day 5 – Sunday morning, slow breakfast, pack the car with strawberries and memories. We drive you back to Stockholm around noon, perfect for afternoon or evening flights.

People say this trip feels like stepping into a storybook. You come as guests and leave as friends, everyone cries a little on the last night, every single year. Only once a year, tiny group, books up crazy fast. Want in for 2026? Say the word and I save you a flower crown!

See you in the North!
